Current consensus
Situational variable is an aspect of surroundings (testing environment) that can unintentionally affect the results of a study.
Explanation
Every aspect that is not defined in the experimental design but may still affect the outcome. For example, weather condition can be situational variable in a study where experimental design does not define testing in specific weather conditions.
